WHERE DREAMS RESIDE
To Charlie With Love,
Under veil of night, where
you sleep in peace,
No wretched movement, no loss
of grace,
Do you still step out in that
purposeful stride?
Do you still stand tall and
walk with pride?
Deep in the night, while your
strong hands are still,
No dancing, no weaving, nor
conflict of will,
Do you still create surprises
for your children's delight?
Do you still reach to touch
me, caresses so light?
Shielded by night, where no
troubles dare,
No confused thoughts, no anger,
no fear,
Do you plot out your projects,
your future still bright?
Are your dreams and your goals
still within sight?
In the peace of the night,
your strained words a hush,
No maddening pressure, frustration,
or rush,
Do you still laugh with friends,
sharing all of your joys?
Do you speak words of love
to your wife, and your boys?
Sheltered within the quiet
comfort of night,
With respite from realities
that come with the light,
Are you free from the anger,
the grief, and the tears?
Do you lead the victory over
all of our fears?
Here in the night, while I
watch you sleep,
Visions and memories, and
our love to keep,
We dance with the wind, and
walk side by side.
We're steady together - we
ride out the tide.
Here in the night, where dreams
reside,
My dreams meet yours, our
Love does abide.
Here in my heart, you will
always be ~
For the Husband and Friend
you have been to me.
